Are you interested in writing online? Join Up Here. If you want any help or advice, I'd be happy to answer any questions you have - just Visit My Profile and send me a message.

If you're looking for some information to get you started, check out my exhaustive guide - Everything I Wish I Knew When I Joined Hubpages.

You can also visit the Hubpages Learning Center.

Do you enjoy writing? To create your own blog or site requires continual work, some coding knowledge and quite a bit of time spent on getting the internet to notice that you even exist.

What if all the hard work was done for you? Instead of spending hours organizing, coding, linking, changing colours, creating competitions to get a user following, all that was already done?

Hubpages gives this opportunity. All you have to do is write. They give you a simple page design around capsules that allows you to easily move and design a professional looking article, as well as inserting all the codes you need for affiliates.

So, how do you make money? People who view your page can click on adverts (through google adsense or kontera) and buy items (off amazon or ebay).

So how much do I have to pay for this "opportunity?" Nothing. Ever. Promise. There is no "small signup fee" and no "premium package." Everything on the site is free. That means if you signup you never have to worry about hidden fees and if you decide to quit - you haven't wasted dollars on something you never really got into.

So, what's the catch? How does the site make money? 40% of the views that any article receives will display adverts by hubpages. The other 60% of the time your adverts will show.

But... what do I write about? Anything! Game guides, how to put baby to sleep, how to grow a vege patch. You'll be surprised how much you know that you can share!

What is the difference between writing on hubpages and writing on my own site? Simple - hubpages is an authority site with google and other search engines which means that if you write the same article on hubpages and your own site, the one on hubpages will be looked on a lot more highly, usually giving it a much higher chance of ranking well in google searches.

How to hub

  1. Choose a topic. This can be anything from how to make a lawn mower work to a piece of creative writing!
  2. Write a hub about it. An average of 500~1500 words is a great size for a hub. Add some photos, media and links and publish it.
  3. Add some tags. You have the option to add tags to help in searches. For instance a lawnmowing hub may have tags such as "how to mow your lawn" and "my lawnmower broke."
  4. Sit back and watch. It can take a hub anywhere from a few days to 9 months to take off. If you find a topic that's popular with searches but not many people have written about, you can get in the top page of google fairly easily. Of course different things influence this. For instance your hub about lawnmowers may incrase in traffic when lawnmowers are in the news and everyone is interested in them.
  5. Go write another! The best advice I ever got as a new hubber was basically "I wrote a handful of hubs and after six months made $100. And I sat there kicking myself, wondering how much I would have made if I'd written more hubs six months ago."

How it saves you time & work

  • If you have a website you need to code it, buy a domain, register, design and organize it. With hubpages all that's been done - you just need to design the page!
  • With a website you usually have to copy and paste codes and insert adds. Hubpages does that all for you by linking your advertising accounts.
  • Most sites require you to link in adds or complicated codes for affiliate marketing. With hubpages all you do is enter your account code and hubpages does the rest - easily allowing you to insert amazon and google boxes without all the fuss!
  • Most websites start at the bottom of the heap - search engines aren't impressed with new sites with very little credibility, and they start at a page rank of 0. Hubpages is already well ranked with google (page rank 6). This means anything you write has a higher chance of ranking near the top of search results.

How to choose a good topic to write about

  1. Read the news. If something is in the news, chances are people will be searching for more information about it. For instance, topics such as drink driving or christmas bargains may be in the news during the holidays.
  2. Have a look in the hub page topics. Some categories have a lot of hubs - obviously this means that yours may not get seen as much since a lot of the same information is already there. Have a look for a topic that hasn't been written about a lot. For instace - there are only nine hubs on the 'pacifier' topic under babies.
  3. Have background. If you know something about a topic that's always a great start. Write about something you know about or that interests you and your hub will be much more informative and people will be more likely to read it. Anything at all - from how to bake a great cake to top ways to annoy your husband!

How to sign up to earn money

First you need to click on My Account then Affiliate Settings.

Next click on edit or modify beside the affiliate you want to use. You'll be asked if you have an account. If not sign up. Once done you can simply link it to you hubpages and the ads and advertising capsules on your page will put any earnings into your account!

I'd recommend starting with google adsense and Amazon. You can also get google analytics if you want more specific info on your hubs - such as keyword searches and what countries people are arriving at your pages from. To sign up for Ebay requires you to have your own separately hosted site.

Hubscore & Profile Score

You'll have a score that varies between 1-100 depending on a lot of factors, on your hubs and your profile. Of course this score gives you an indication of the quality of your hub and writing, however if you're here to make money it's not that important.

Internal views (views from other site members) will give you feed back and comments but not ad clicks and sales. Your aim is to get views from google, yahoo, bing and all the other search engines.

Ebay works similar to amazon but you need your own site to apply.
